Hello
Great you made this Compiled stuff available !
Very stable, had no trouble so far.
One question:
I use the OSX-intel version. Does it run with
Python 2.5? Will this have an advantage to the
preinstalled Python 2.3 ?
Your welcome. It this case you will have to thank Timothy Kanters for the Build, since he’s the Mac OS X Intel build expert.
Right now Blender doesn’t officially support Python 2.5 . The support is for Python 2.3 on Macs and Python 2.4 on other OSes.
In terms of Python itself, it has some advantages, but in order for Blender to take advantage of thesem, it has to be compiled against Python 2.5 , which isn’t the case.
Hi
Thanks, i supposed that.
I forgot another thing to mention.
The renderengine uses only two threads, so
just two of my 4 cores ( MacPro 2.66 ).
Is there a chance to to get rid of that ?
Same with baking fluids, which is my favorite
in the moment. Just one core used. But it is
way better and faster than before. I love the
new tweaks. Skulpture is an super-goodie as well.
To Jens: Join this mailing list and send a post mentioning it, http://projects.blender.org/mailman/listinfo/bf-committers . According to Ton, the Engine can take up to 8 cpus, but he can’t really test it, since he doesn’t have one of these systems.
So, if you mention you would like to offer your services as a tester, I’m sure he would like that too. He also uses Mac OS X, so it is possible he can help you on that.
I would to know if you can improve blender 3d view for an example. adding bottons for scripts, views, and ect.something similar like lightwave or Maya
view interface,But still have
blender trade mark. And not least what about import 3ds
file I download your build
I try to import a silo 3ds file
but can not exsecuce it,Why?
I love blender but it needs alot of improvement on it funtions.I hpoe someday it will
have the status like Maya, other 3ds commercial sorfware.
Hi Richard, as much as I would like to do this, I’m not a Blender developer , nor is this site a development site, we focus on providing the builds, but, I can always redirect you to the proper place.
Thanks fore a grait service but I’m wondering if it wold be possebule to get the linuxbuild also on the suse buildservice? It wold be greate to get blender updated automatikely via YAST every time an upgrade is out.
It’s possible sometimes to release static builds for linux?
I use it as a workstation, without internet(my modem doesn’t have the drivers). This means it’s difficoult to make work cvs builds, too many problem with library dependencies ,if sometimes you release static builds it could be very appreciated.

To cole:
Give me sometime, I already have a script that does the necessary debs (my first releases were deb files), just need to get the new chroot building the binaries.
After I get things running I can build tar.gz and deb files, I already have everything I need to do the debs.
Hi Rui,
I have been trying to get hold of windows 64 bit builds of blender and yafray, optimised for SSE3, do you know if these builds are going to be built with the 2.43 release?
To A. Vector:
I already mentioned this on one of the posts, but here you go.
Blender 64 Bits isn’t officially supported, Ton plans to work on it for the release after 2.43.
If you only use 64 Bits versions of Blender you should be fine.
But if you want to share files saved in a 32 Bits version and then load them into the 64 Bits one (and vice-versa), the files will get corrupted.
Additionally I don’t own a 64 Bit cpu, so I can’t really grant your request.
And since 64 Bit isn’t yet officially supported (given the previous conditions) I think its best to stick with the 32 Bits version for now.
I will see with the team if it is possible to get SSE3 builds for all OSes (Linux is easy).
ola!
a minha questao prende-se mais com o OS, e posteriormente com o blender.
como pretendo utilizar o blender,e como em gnu/linux é mais eficiente a trabalhar, tenho tid problemas em instalar qualquer versão gnu/linux no meu portatil:
LG S1 Express Dual, centrino duo,T2400,2Gb ram, ati X1600Pro, 512HM.
se me puder ajudar ou indicar algum site com um how to, melhor!
obrigado

i have a question regarding older graphic cards.
i have one metabute wicekd3d 12mb, and was thinking of buying another like it and usit in blender.
that leads to my 1st question: will blender take advantage of that board, since it only starts working after the application starts(with games it used to be like that) and how would i put bothworking together?
2nd question: how would you think it would behave, that “old” board with blender?
thanks in advance, sorry for the long question.

could somebody please do a recent build for mac intel? the current official 2.45 build is buggy (sculpt mode doesn’t work properly on latest mbp 10.4.11 and older versions don’t have all the features i need. would be much appreciated!

You can post your requests to this mailing-list http://projects.blender.org/mailman/listinfo/bf-committers
.
One thing is for sure, Blender’s Interface is different and that is what makes it such a great tool, once you get used to it.
Now, on the import of the 3ds file. Did you get an error ?
Did you check the console ?
Usually you have all the needed information in the console, so you can know what failed.
Check the console and see what it says, if you get what is causing this it can be fixed.
Have you also tried obj format ?

To Ingemar:
.
I’m sorry, but that you have to ask the SuSE devs to do it
If I do it for SuSE, then I will have to do it for Ubuntu, then Mandriva and Fedora…. and the list goes on.
But I’m open to work with someone who wants to do it, I can provide the space and links, but I can’t really do it myself, no time nor knowledge.

Qualquer um destes recursos deve ajudar a iniciar-se no gnu/linux.
Nós aqui só nos focamos no Blender em si.

Hello,
I have been waiting for that long-promised zaurus port…for months, many months. Anything yet, that I can load onto my starved little zaurie???

Hi CubOf:
Yes we are, we just took a short break, but we are preparing something for the beginning of August again to mark our return to activity.
Stay tunned, we might even have some prizes for you guys …
