Windows: October 29th 2006 CVS Optimized Build

October 30th, 2006 by Eugene (etr9j)

I realize that SSE2 builds exclude several AMD users from using these builds since some older AMD chips don’t have SSE2. So I have made an SSE build so most modern processors should be able to run it.

You can find this build here. Here are a few of the more recent commits to the cvs that this build has:

- Serious bugfix for compositing; using Groups could crash if one of the input nodes was ‘passing on’ the buffer (because it didn’t operate on the image). That’s for example for Blur with size 0 or for Translate node. This passed-on buffer then got freed inside the group…

- Icon previews for Images were created always for old files, which made browsing (menus) incredible slow. Added a minor change in the flow, so icons only get created when the user invokes loading images.

- Compositor: the ‘File Output’ node now has a min/max frame for which it writes file

- Compositor: fixed a very bad bug (even in 2.42a release) that made the depsgraph for nodes not work… while editing, only the nodes that change should be recalculated, but accidentally all of them were done each time.

- New Curves Widget option: curves can get extrapolated extension. Especially for Compositing it was annoying that colors always got clipped in the 0.0-1.0 range. For this reason, extrapolated Curves now is thedefault. Old saved files still have horizontal extrapolation. Set the option with ‘Tools’ menu (wrench icon). This is a setting per curve, so you might need to set all 4 curves for an RGBA curves widget. default. Old saved files still have horizontal extrapolation. Set the option with ‘Tools’ menu (wrench icon). This is a setting per curve, so you might need to set all 4 curves for an RGBA curves widget.

- Fix for bug #5128: Missing texture preview update for MinX/MaxX/MinY/MaxY settings of an image texture.

PS: Remember that this is not a build endorsed by the Blender Foundation, if you found a bug in it please test it with the official release before doing a bug report. But if you do find something wrong with this build, let us know so we can fix it ASAP.

    This is a really cool report :) .

    I think its time for me to post a Linux build for all our readers.

    Anyway, the monthly build is coming and believe me when I say, it will be something to look forward too. New stuff will be included, be prepared…

    @rafael
    This is an old build that was stored in a now dead location. Take a look at the latest RC2 build at blender.or or http://www.blenderbuilds.com/2007/01/16/january-release-new-year-new-beginnings/ for the new location of the files on BB.
