We’ve posted an SSE2 optimized build of the latest Blender release, 2.42a, for Windows. This type of optimization requires a CPU with SSE2 support. You can find out if your CPU does by taking a look at this list. Renders using SSE2 optimizations usually render ~40% faster than the standard 2.42a release.
You can find this build here.
PS: Remember that this is not a build endorsed by the Blender Foundation, if you found a bug in it please test it with the official release before doing a bug report. But if you do find something wrong with this build, let us know so we can fix it ASAP.
